Shoes on Show

You know that I am a big advocate for displaying your favourite items instead of hiding them in drawers or cupboards. Have you de-cluttered your house recently? Have you found some worn pair of shoes from years ago which you could not throw away? Consider displaying them rather than packing them away again.

For inspiration galore, I recommend visiting Recollect: Shoes at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. This colourful exhibition features more than 800 pairs of shoes from the 1500s to today and is a showcase of the world renowned shoe collection of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences.

According to the museum's website, highlights are boots worn by Queen Victoria, leather shoes from the Middle Ages, and a pair of Charles Jourdan high heels featuring in the film Moulin Rouge. Recollect: Shoes is still running until the 19 July 2015. Tickets are free with the Museum Entry. Why not take some me-time, make a trip to the city and explore one of our multifaceted museums?

Toys Through Time

I still have my Barbie doll in a bright pink plastic suitcase with a selection of her dresses and shoes. I even crocheted her tops.  What about you? Did you keep treasured toys from your childhood?

Dive into the realm of vintage toys at the fascinating exhibition Toys Through Time in the Museum of Sydney. The exhibition features over 200 beloved toys and treasures of generations of Sydneysiders as well as Sydney's famous toy manufacturers and toy sellers. Until the 9 August 2015.
